Current changes to Neighbourhood Policing

I feel it is important to make contact regarding the current changes to Neighbourhood Policing as this undoubtedly going to raise questions and conversations at upcoming engagements.

Upon our PCSO’s return from this week’s remodelling meeting, I was provided with the following information. My understanding is that Market Rasen, Caistor, surrounding Parishes and other rural beats throughout Lincolnshire will no longer have any PCSO’s based at the local stations. The 7 remaining PCSO’s in West Lindsey that have been spared redundancy will all be based out of Gainsborough.

This has been a challenging and difficult time for our PCSO’s, many of which who have given 15 years + service to their beat areas.  I hear you when you say that the wealth of knowledge and experience cannot be replaced. I also know that a ‘cog can’t turn without the other cogs’. Personally, I am devastated at the loss of my team and what implications this has for our communities. Although we were already stretched, we did our best to keep on top of the most pressing issues of concern. Whatever we have achieved, the PCSO’s are at the forefront.

For now we will do our upmost to carry on over the summer and answer any concerns you have. Please feel free to get in touch and meet for a coffee. The CBM’S have received no more information, other than what we have been provided from the PCSO’S and/or what has already been in the news and media. I don’t know what the future of Neighbourhood Policing looks like as yet.  As it stands, I may not necessarily be able to cover all the tasks that have been achieved by a team, as potentially one person from October. Hopefully, there will be a plan to help fill the voids.

Kind regards,

Emma Wilson
